Maasai Mara 2 Days Package Overview
Maasai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system.
Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq km and rises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. It’s about 270 km from the capital Nairobi City and takes about 4-5 hours by road or 40-45 minutes by flight.
It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kenya, no wonder this is the home to the BBC world channel “big cat diary”. The reserve is located in the great rift valley in primarily open grassland. The reserve has all the big five, over 95 species of mammals, amphibians and 400 bird species.
Maasai Mara National Reserve is known for the great wildebeest migration, which is one of the seven wonders of the world, the movement of the animals is immense having over 2 million animals migrate from the Serengeti national park in Tanzania to Maasai Mara national reserve in Kenya during July through to October. One of the highlights is the animals trying to cross the Mara river alive as the crocodiles prey on them.
