Mount Kenya National Park

Welcome to Mount Kenya National Park

Mount Kenya National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to Africa's second highest peak at 5,199m. Dramatically different from Kenya's savannah parks, the mountain landscape offers alpine moorlands, glacial tarns, giant lobelias, and unique montane wildlife. It is Kenya's premier trekking destination – and a surprisingly rewarding safari location.

Three main trekking routes – Naro Moru, Sirimon, and Chogoria – cater to all fitness levels and multi-day itineraries. Wildlife encountered on the mountain includes buffalo, elephant, bongo antelope, colobus monkey, and the rare African wild dog in the surrounding Laikipia ecosystem. The Sirimon Gate area offers excellent game drives through high-altitude forest and moorland. Base yourself in Nanyuki – gateway to Ol Pejeta, Laikipia conservancies, and the mountain – for the ultimate central Kenya circuit.
