"It all started with the pick-up from my hotel. Irene was present to make sure that everything was clear. The driver did a great job during the day, keep in mind traffic is a nightmare for European people. The knowledge of Ken, the tour guide, was very good. He knew his way around the park. the whole experience was one I will never forget."

"My Samburu holiday was without a doubt the most incredible experience of my life. My partner and I are very grateful for your commitment and the length your team went to ensure that everything was as we wanted it to be. The standard of service from the first email, to booking and that of the lodge, exceeded our expectations everything was just perfect. we'd definitely go back. I would recommend Hangout Safaris to anyone looking for a short safari experience, especially in Samburu. Thank you to your team for treating us as the absolute priority."
The peak season for a Kenya safari is during the dry months from July to October, which coincides with the world-famous Great Wildebeest Migration in the Masai Mara National Reserve. Another fantastic window is January through March, offering warm weather, clear skies, and incredible big cat and predator sightings.
However, East Africa is a year-round destination. The "green season" (April to May and November) brings lush landscapes, lower tour rates, fewer crowds, and exceptional bird watching opportunities.
Safari costs in Kenya depend on your choice of accommodation, season, and itinerary type. Prices typically range from $200 – $350 per person per day for mid-range safaris, up to $800+ per day for high-end luxury camps.
At Hangout Safaris, our standard all-inclusive packages cover:
Yes. Most foreign nationals traveling to Kenya must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) prior to departure. The application is completed online via the official Kenya eTA portal.
If your East Africa itinerary includes combining Kenya with Tanzania or Uganda, you may also need separate entry authorizations or an East Africa Tourist Visa for multi-country travel. We recommend applying for your eTA at least 2–3 weeks before your travel date.
While wild animal sightings can never be guaranteed, Kenya is home to all members of the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and African buffalo).
Destinations like the Masai Mara and Amboseli National Park are world-renowned for high densities of lions and large elephant herds. To spot rhinos, our itineraries frequently include Lake Nakuru National Park or Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Our experienced driver-guides track wildlife daily to maximize your chances of seeing the Big Five in their natural habitats.
Private Safaris: Offer complete flexibility, custom departure dates, tailored itineraries, and dedicated 4x4 vehicle use exclusively for you, your family, or your group.
Group Joining Safaris: Ideal for solo travelers or budget-conscious couples. You share the safari vehicle and guide expenses with fellow travelers on set dates, significantly lowering your trip cost while enjoying the same high-quality game drive experience.
Hangout Safaris organizes both private custom tours and small group joining safaris departing from Nairobi.
We primarily use custom-built 4x4 Toyota Land Cruisers equipped with pop-up roofs for 360-degree photography, long-range radios, device charging ports, and cooler boxes for cold drinks.
For accommodation, you can choose between:
Tented Camps: Offering a close-to-nature bush experience with canvas walls, solid beds, and private en-suite bathrooms.
Safari Lodges: Permanent structure accommodations with solid walls, private balconies, pools, and full hotel amenities.
When packing for a Kenya safari, layer up in lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, olive green). Avoid bright colors as well as dark blue/black (which attract tsetse flies).
