Aberdare National Park offers a cool, forested escape in Kenya’s central highlands. Known for its thick bamboo forests, misty moorlands, and beautiful waterfalls, the park is perfect for nature lovers and photographers. It’s one of the few places where you can see the rare bongo antelope and large forest elephants. Other animals include leopards, bushbucks, and hyenas. Aberdare is also rich in history—Treetops Lodge is where Queen Elizabeth became monarch in 1952. Visitors can enjoy game drives, trout fishing, and guided hikes to waterfalls like Karuru and Chania Falls. With its lush vegetation and cooler climate, Aberdare offers a very different experience from Kenya’s savannah parks.
