Lake Manyara National Park is a small but diverse park in northern Tanzania, located between Arusha and the Ngorongoro Highlands. It’s famous for its tree-climbing lions, large flocks of flamingos, and lush groundwater forests. The park wraps around the shallow, alkaline Lake Manyara, attracting hippos and hundreds of bird species. Despite its compact size, the park offers a wide range of landscapes—from open grasslands and acacia woodlands to cliffs and hot springs. You can also spot elephants, baboons, giraffes, and buffaloes. Scenic viewpoints offer panoramic views of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and the shimmering lake below. Lake Manyara is ideal for a relaxed, scenic safari, especially at the start or end of a northern Tanzania tour.
